Responsibilities of the Officers of the Institute

Chairman

Chairs all meetings of the General Body and Governing Council and have supervision and control over all the affairs of the Institute, may take such action in case of an emergency as he may think expedient and inform the Governing Council at the next meeting.

Principal (I/c)

He is the head of the Institute and shall be responsible for the day-to-day management of its activities and overall academic, administration functioning’s of the Institute. Discharges responsibilities in accordance with the Rules and Regulations and Byelaws of the Institute and also Member of Governing Council. Monitors, conduct of classes/examinations/declaration of results of the institution. Liaisoning with affiliated bodies NCHMCT and IGNOU. Additionally, Student counselling and looking after at the Industrial Training / Job Placements of the students, and interaction with allied industry personnel.

 Lecturer

Responsible for conduct of class room sessions, student grooming, discipline, student attendance monitoring, examinations and assisting Principal for academics on needed.

 Admin. & Accounts (I/c)

Looks after the overall administration, responsible for the proper maintenance of records of the Institute. Attests and executes the documents on behalf of the Institute. Responsible for the satisfactory functioning of finance, accounts, audit, communications, administration, security system, transport, MIS, Public Relations and other general facilities of the Institute. Responsible for processing files of Establishment and Administrations matters.

Overview

Telangana State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) is a sector-specific management institute, established by Government of India (Ministry of Tourism) and Government of Telangana (Telangana Tourism), to meet the increasing demand for quality professionals, at different levels, in the Tourism and related services sector. Collaborated with IGNOU.

SIHM, established in 2017,is a sector specific institute started with an intention to provide skilled manpower to the Hotel Industry by offering them professional training in the field of Hospitality.  The institute is as a joint venture between Central Government of India and Government of Telangana State. It began academic operations on
August 3rd, 2017 and was formally inaugurated by Sri T. Harish Rao, Honourable Minister for Irrigation, Marketing and Legislative Affairs, Telangana.

Located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the state capital. The institute is very well connected by Road (NH9) and is just 90 minutes from Hyderabad.  The institute is nestled in Greenery which is spread over an area of 5 Acres. The presence of world class institutes like Woxen University, IIIT-Hyderabad, in the proximity makes it a prominent Educational Hub and creating the right environment for the students to study, learn and explore. The Institute has state of the art building, perfectly designed to accommodate Classrooms, Laboratories, Library, and equipped with safety and security systems. The institute is a dream comes true for any student who wishes to study in a sophisticated environment.

 Administrative Arrangements

SIHM is administered by Chairman SIHM, supported by its Governing Council oversees the superintendence of the institute.

 Extension Services

  • Catering Services: Student Dining Hall at SIHM is established.
  • Students are encouraged to be part of curricular events such as seminars, conferences, workshops etc. and extra-curricular activities such as exchange programs, cultural events and competitions.

 Student Assistance

  • Information on the institute and the program are dispersed through institute website: www.sihm.ac.in and are personalized through individual emails and telephone services.
  • Students are allotted with faculty Mentors for assistance.

 Accommodation

  • Separate Hostels for boys and girls are provided for outstation students.
  • Mineral water is being provided in hostels and in the Dining Area.
  • Solar panels are installed to provide hot water to students.

Recreation

  • Acre of play area for outdoor games (Cricket, Foot Ball, Volley Ball, Lawn Tennis, Basketball etc.).
  • Indoor spaces for Chess, Carroms etc.

Reading

  • A reading room is provided in each of the hostels.
  • Newspapers, Magazines, Journals are provided to students.

Health:

  • First Aid Centre is provided with Doctor-on-Call.

Library

  • A modern state-of-the-art information centre with internet, audio-visual facilities in 1,000 Sq. Ft. built-up area is in place.
  • The library is fully equipped with 540 titles, 625 volumes, 7 periodicals, and 35 non-book material.

Placement Services

  • All the students of SIHM are provided with assistance for Internships during the last semester of programs.
  • Project during holidays is also encouraged for first-hand experience of the industry.
